DESCRIPTION

Royal Australian Mint | 60th Anniversary of Decimal Currency 2026 Proof Six-Coin Year Set

Celebrate 60 Years of Decimal Currency in Australia

Commemorating a major milestone in Australian monetary history, the Royal Australian Mint proudly presents the 60th Anniversary of Decimal Currency 2026 Proof Six-Coin Year Set. This stunning collection pays tribute to the nation's transition from pounds, shillings, and pence to dollars and cents in 1966—a cultural and economic revolution that changed the way Australians counted and traded forever.

Historical Significance

On 14 February 1966, Australia embraced the decimal system with a nationwide campaign that included “Dollar Bill,” the iconic cartoon character who helped simplify the changeover with the slogan ‘Decimal Currency – The Easy Way’. The transformation took years of meticulous planning, with a special Decimal Currency Board overseeing the switch and a public competition ultimately landing on the name “dollar” for the new currency.

What's Inside the Set

  • Six individually encapsulated proof coins: 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1, and $2
  • Custom-designed reverses on the 10c and 50c coins that honour both pre-decimal and decimal coinage
  • Presented in a premium display case with an informative booklet and outer box
